Optimising UPS System for a Perth-based Company

In October 2022, UPS Solutions had the privilege to work with a prominent Perth-based company. The client approached us seeking a warranty extension and preventative maintenance service for their end-of-life 120kVA UPS. The UPS system required a significant overhaul, including a complete replacement of internal parts such as AC & DC capacitors, fans, and more.

The Challenge:

The client was operating on a 120kVA UPS, which was well beyond its life expectancy. A site visit revealed that their actual load was under 15kVA, implying that their current UPS system was substantially over-specified. The unit required a major part replacement, implying significant cost and effort.

The Solution:

Upon assessing the client's actual requirements, UPS Solutions proposed to downgrade the UPS to a 40kVA unit while retaining the existing battery string, which was in good condition. This solution was not only more cost-effective but also more suited to their actual power needs.

The Outcome:

The new 40kVA UPS unit was successfully installed, backed by a full two-year warranty and a complimentary preventative maintenance service from UPS Solutions. This fit-for-purpose solution ensured optimal power backup for the client's needs, leading to improved efficiency and lower operational costs. The client expressed their satisfaction with the quick response and personalised solution, feeling more secure and confident in their power backup system.
