Installing Your SPD
Optimal Placement and Precautions

To ensure that your SPD operates efficiently and provides reliable surge protection for your equipment, it's essential to follow specific installation steps. These guidelines are designed to optimise the protection and performance of your surge protection device (SPD), which is crucial for maintaining its effectiveness and longevity.

Regular maintenance checks are recommended to ensure the device continues to function as intended and to detect any potential issues early. Additionally, always adhere to safety standards and manufacturer instructions to avoid incorrect handling that could compromise the SPD’s performance or safety.

Installation Guidelines

  • Location: Install the SPD as close as possible to the equipment you wish to protect to maximize its effectiveness. Ensure the unit is positioned in an area with free-flowing air to facilitate cooling. Avoid stacking items on top of the SPD and ensure there is adequate ventilation around it.
  • Environment Considerations: Do not place the SPD above heat-generating devices or in locations exposed to weather conditions. Such environments could impair its functionality and safety.
  • Power Connection: The SPD does not have a dedicated power switch and should be used with devices that have their own current limiting circuit breaker (CB) or fuse. Make sure it is connected to a power outlet that is easily accessible for quick disconnection if needed.
